Country star Luke Combs nabbed two awards last week at the 54th Annual CMA Awards, including “Male Vocalist of the Year” and “Album of the Year”. The second award is for his number-one record, What You See Is What You Get. This came just weeks after Combs released a deluxe version of that album, which included six new songs. Combs performed one of those new songs “Cold As You” during the award show.
These two victories brought Combs’ total number of CMA awards to five. After the ceremony, Combs tweeted: “What a night! Thank you @CountryMusic and thank you all! #CMAAwards” along with some photos of him performing and holding his awards.
The show was broadcasted live from the Music City Center in Nashville, and was hosted by past winners Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker. It was one of the first award shows this year to include an in-person audience, though it was limited.
Aside from Combs, other performers included Ashley McBryde, Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban, and Dan + Shay featuring Justin Bieber. Some of the other winners from that night include Eric Church for Entertainer of The Year, Maren Morris’s for Female Vocalist Of The Year and her song “The Bones” for Single Of The Year, and Miranda Lambert’s “Bluebird” for Music Video Of The Year.
