Rockers Dashboard Confessional have released a cover of the Elvis Presley standard “Blue Christmas” ahead of the holidays, as part of Spotify’s singles collection.
The song was recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York City, and follows the cancellation of tour dates the band had scheduled for the year prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Singer Chris Carrabba commented on the recording in a statement.
“I’ve always loved Christmas songs and I’ve always loved Elvis,” Carrabba’s statement read. “What better choice could I have made for our Spotify Single than ‘Blue Christmas’. We delved into some seriously dreamy territory for our take on this classic Christmas song.”
Carrabba made headlines earlier this year following a serious motorcycle accident that caused severe but non-life threatening injuries. The singer posted on social media about the accident, thanking those who worked to make sure he was able to make a full recovery.
“Hi friends on June 6th I was in a motorcycle accident. My injuries were severe but not life threatening. I owe the amazing doctors, nurses and medical team treating me my endless gratitude. I am determined to make a full recovery, but I have surgeries and months of rehab to come,” he wrote in the post.
“To all reading this I would like to say thank you for standing by me through my recovery. This will be difficult physically, emotionally and financially and I’m grateful to have your support as I go through it.”
