Home renovation power couple Chip and Joanna Gaines, who rose to prominence with their HGTV Fixer Upper series, have announced more details about the launch of their own network. Magnolia Network will launch under the Discovery Inc. umbrella sometime in 2021, after their original October 2020 launch was pushed back due production delays caused by Covid-19.
The relaunch of their show Fixer Upper, which originally ended in 2018, will be the premiere of the network. According to Deadline, other programming will include the following shows: Bespoke Kitchens, Family Dinner, Restoration Road, The Fieldhouse, Home Work, The Lost Kitchen, Inn the Works, Growing Floret, and Home on the Road. So far, their programming slate focuses on home renovation and cooking shows, two genres that the Gaines are passionate about.
Joanna told Fast Company, “We didn’t go out and do casting calls, anything like that. We just looked around. It’s what they’re doing in real life that drew us to their story. Without the cameras on them, you could see the passion, you could see the drive, the risk. And then when you’re watching, you’re like, ‘Now I want to go do that.’” Her husband Chip added, “The secret to good television is finding people who don’t want to be on television.”
The Magnolia Network will join a slew of other projects the pair have launched that share the Magnolia name, including successful home decor lines at Target and Anthropologie, seven books, and a chain of local coffee shops.
What is going to happen to the GREAT shows on DIY? If You mess with my favorite shows it will affect how I view your network.
