BBC One just released a rockin’ launch trailer for Poldark: Series 2, the romantic historical drama set in 18th Century Cornwall. The fast-paced, passion-filled trailer promises higher stakes and more of Aidan Turner’s famous abs.
The Evening Standard agrees. “[T]his trailer hints that BBC is only upping the action for the second series of the hit period drama….
“But it’s not all wrath and ruin – the trailer also shows off the real breakout star of the first series; Turner’s magnificent abs.”
After the overwhelming attention brought on by the shirtless farming scene from Season 1, BBC One wisely incorporated another such moment in the trailer to entice more viewers.
So what’s coming in Season 2? The Week reports, “fans of the original Winston Graham novels – or the 1970s TV series – will also know to expect more simmering tensions between Ross and his former love interest Elizabeth (Heida Reed), more bitter rivalries between Ross and George Warleggan (Jack Farthing) and more class struggles between the wealthy toffs and the working poor.”
PBS has scheduled the 2-hour season premiere in America on September 25, 2016.
For those that want a lot more Poldark in their lives, the series is slated to continue. “[T]he BBC has commissioned a third season to air next year,” The Week confirms.
