Chris Pratt and Anna Faris – Hollywood’s New Power Couple

    By The Editors | Culture | 1 comment | 1 June, 2016 | 0

Anna Faris has been called the “Lucille Ball of her generation,” and no one’s comedic timing is better. She became widely known through the Scary Movie franchise, and has always been the stand-out her other films, most notably Smiley Face and The House Bunny. She provided a great comedic interlude in the wonderful Lost in Translation playing a self-obsessed starlet.

She can be seen regularly now in the CBS television series, Mom, where she plays Christy Plunkett, a single-mother who is a recovering alcoholic. Her own mother–another recovering alcoholic–lives with her, as does her daughter–who has a child, too–and a younger son. The show has its dark moments as the characters’ deal with their self-destructive impulses while striving to realize their remaining dreams. Anna Faris gets many of the biggest laughs while also playing straight man to her mom, Bonnie (Allison Janney) whose caustic put-downs of everything and everyone one (including herself) has won her two Emmys.

Anna Faris met her husband Chris Pratt on the set of the film Take Me Home Tonight. For the first years of their marriage, Anna was by far the bigger star and Chris had to fend off other men’s unwanted attentions to his wife.

Chris caught on with the public playing a good-intentioned dope on Parks and Recreation. This led to starring roles in The Lego Movie and the highest grossing film of 2014, Guardians of the Galaxy. His lead in Jurassic World boosted his box office appeal into the stratosphere. He’ll reprise his role in a sequel and star this coming fall in The Magnificent Seven, a re-make of the John Sturges 1960 classic.

Chris took the lead in declaring the couple people of faith. When their son Jack was born prematurely, Chris said that the couple “prayed a lot.” He went on to say that this difficult time did not exactly restore his faith in God, since he had always believed, but “really defined it.”

What is the nature of occult’s influence on rock and roll? According to the book Season of the Witch: How the Occult Saved Rock and Roll by Peter Berbegal, the occult expanded the language and sound of rock and roll, and was more about theater and fun than the diabolical. It’s a good argument, although not entirely convincing.
