Beyonce, the one and only, has teamed up with the fitness company Peloton. Their program will feature the pop star’s 2019 album (and accompanying film) Homecoming, and celebrate Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the U.S. Together, they created a series of workouts for Peloton members that include cycling, running and yoga – all of which fit the Homecoming theme.
Existing Peloton members aren’t the only ones who benefit from this collaboration though, because the two are also gifting Peloton memberships to students at ten leading Historically Black colleges and universities, including: Bennett College, Clark Atlanta University, Grambling State University, Hampton University, Howard University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, Texas Southern University and Wilberforce University.
Beyonce said in a statement, “Peloton and I both believe that the power of music can help uplift, motivate and inspire those on their fitness journeys. I’ve been a Peloton member for several years, and I’m excited to partner with a company that helps people, young and old, be the best versions of themselves, in an innovative and adaptable way. I’m proud to celebrate the students at HBCUs with this donation, to encourage them to find and embrace their own wellness regimens.”
“When we had conversations with Beyoncé around how critical a social impact component was to all of us, it crystallized how important it was to embrace Homecoming as an opportunity to celebrate and create dialogue around Black culture and music, in partnership with HBCUs,” said Gwen Bethel, Peloton’s head of music.
Peloton specializes in selling at-home workout equipment, as well as monthly memberships that allow you to connect with fitness instructors and join live workout classes remotely. This partnership will share Beyoncé’s music with over 3 million Peloton members as she joins Peloton’s already established artist series, which includes artists like Lizzo, Alicia Keys, and Common.
