After five years of dating, making headlines and being shipped by everybody and their mothers, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are getting married! The pair each announced their engagement on Tuesday with the same adorable Instagram photo of them kissing while Stefani holds up her left hand to the camera, showing off her new ring. Stefani captioned her photo “@blakeshelton yes please! ??? gx” and Shelton captioned his post “Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020… And the rest of my life.. I love you. I heard a YES!”
Several of their celebrity friends have commented to congratulate the pair, including John Legend, Alicia Keys and Jimmy Fallon. Stefani appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in April 2018, hinting to Ellen that marriage was on the table by saying “You know what, I love weddings. The kids love him, we love him, everybody loves him.”
The couple first met in 2014 on the set of The Voice when Stefani replaced Christina Aguilera as the show’s fourth coach. At the time both were married to other musicians, Stefani to Gavin Rossdale and Shelton to Miranda Lambert. Within a year, each of them had announced their divorces, and months later rumors began circulating that the two were an item. Their relationship was officially confirmed in November 2015, and the rest is history! Since then, the pair has collaborated together on music several times, continued coaching The Voice side by side, and tweeted a whole lot of adorable things to each other. Congratulations to the happy couple!
