Rock Icon Stevie Nicks is back with her first new song in years, “Show Them The Way.”
The song was produced by in-demand pop producer Greg Kurstin and features Dave Grohl on drums. It marks Nicks’ first release in years as a solo artist, and comes on the heels of the Fleetwood Mac singer’s returning to the charts with her band after a TikTok video went viral that featured their 1977 hit “Dreams.”
“Show Them The Way” was written several years ago, after Nicks had a dream that she’d been invited to sing for American icons like John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. The song was penned leading up to the 2008 election.
The dream, according to a Los Angeles Times profile, was so vivid that Nicks immediately woke up and wrote down the experience in journal format. It was put to music soon after, but wasn’t recorded until this year while Nicks was in quarantine.
Following the release of “Show Them The Way,” Nicks will launch 24 Karat Gold: The Concert, her new live album and concert film shot during her massively successful solo tour in 2017.
Nicks also went viral recently for her lengthy social media post following the death of Ruth Bader Ginsberg, which she said left her “brokenhearted.” That post was unfortunately met with many comments asking Nicks about the soured relationship between her and Lindsey Buckingham, who was fired from Fleetwood Mac two years ago apparently over a fight with Nicks.
“I was like, ‘We’re talking about the death of a great Supreme Court judge, and you are yelling at me about something that happened two-and-a-half years ago? What are you, insane?’ I’m reeling from it. But I’m also like, OK: I can never be on social media,” she said in the L.A. Times interview.
