Finally 2020 has some good news! Rock and roll legends AC/DC have announced their new single “Shot In The Dark” will be released on Wednesday, October 7th at 12:00AM EST.
This announcement came just days after the band took to Twitter to announce their surprise reunion on September 28th, followed by tweeting the album art for their brand new LP PWRUP two days later. “Shot In The Dark” marks AC/DC’s first time releasing new music since their hit record Rock or Bust was released in 2014.
The band announced their hiatus in 2016 following the ‘Rock or Bust’ tour, though by that time singer Brian Johnson, bassist Cliff Williams and drummer Phil Rudd had each respectively left the group for personal reasons. Longtime fans were thrilled to see that all three members have returned for PWRUP. The trio will join founding member and lead guitarist Angus Young, along with his nephew Stevie Young who replaced his uncle Malcom Young in 2014. Malcom stepped down due to illness and died in 2017.
Don’t worry, the band didn’t leave us completely in the dark (pun intended) because a short preview for “Shot In The Dark” was posted to AC/DC’s social media accounts. We hear a short clip of the song, just enough to get excited to hear more. Playing behind the music are shots of the bandmates hanging out, smiling, getting photographed, and shredding their guitars. All in the all, the boys seem thrilled to be back at it, and judging by the comments – their fans are as well.
