“Other people have experiences that could really help, but it’s important to know who you are as a person and have conviction; otherwise, you end up going down every rabbit hole you see along the way. Identity, even if you don’t exactly know how to articulate it will act as a filter for all the advice and opinions you will get from peers, executives, record labels, managers, etc” – TU
TU is composed of husband and wife Giorgi and Leo Antinori, who form a duo from Los Angeles. They fell in love after meeting in a grocery store, and began making music together almost immediately.
Tragically, the couple’s 1-year-old daughter passed away from a congenital lung condition. This hardship is something the couple points to as a turning point in their musical career. Over a few years’ time span, amidst the healing and grieving process, Leo wrote the song “Smile”, which was all about love: the love he felt for his wife and the love the couple felt for their child.
This single went on to win three international song awards, and started the couple back on their journey of music. Their pop music became centered around life, hardships, and the beauty of loving one another. They’ve also recently expanded back into the music of their roots, and are releasing Spanish/English bilingual pop as well.
Their newest bilingual single is called “Summertime.”
The single was inspired by songs like Santana’s Maria Maria mixed with J Balvin/Black Eyed Peas and early J.Lo. According to the duo, this new song and music video will make you forget how bored you’ve been in quarantine and make you wish Summer lasted forever.
