Twin sisters Atisha and Nishita Lulla were given a guitar by their father as a gift when they left for college. Raised on a steady diet of The Beatles, Eric Clapton, and Johnny Cash, the girls had a passion for music. To help cope with being in a strange new city, they began making music. 

“It was very overwhelming for two Pennsylvania girls to be taking on New York City alone,” says Nishita. “We were super vulnerable, so I was playing guitar a lot. One day, Atisha turned to me and said, ‘That doesn’t sound horrible! Atisha began singing. Our first song was born. It was like a dream we never knew we had.” 

Thus began the LULLANAS. The stress-relieving pastime led to regular gigs around NYC and, on a family visit to India, the recording of their first single “Don’t Say”. This track garnered more than 1.3 million streams on Spotify alone! 

LULLANAS’ sound is a mix of The Head and the Heart, The Lumineers, and Lana Del Rey, landing firmly in the folk-pop realm. With soft harmonies and sweet vocals, the Lulla sisters will sing you a folksy song that speaks to your soul and captivates your heart. In 2019, they were able to work with another musical inspiration, The National’s producer Peter Katis, on their latest EP Before Everything Got Real.
