“After two years of intense touring, and meeting tons of people, we are left with a feeling that there are many good forces at work in the world, even though the state of things can sometimes seem hopeless. Even though it wasn’t a planned theme in the songwriting process, we seem to have been inspired by this, and that hope and encouragement has become a common thread in our lyrical universe this time around.” – Darling West
The band, Darling West, hails from Norway; it’s composed of members Mari Sandvær Kreken and Tor Egil Kreken. Their debut album “Winter Passing” earned them a Spellemannprisen nomination, which is the Norwegian equivalent of the Grammy’s. Their sophomore album “Vinyl and a Heartache” won the award in 2016!
American singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams named the duo’s sound “Cosmic Folk” after sharing the stage with them a few years ago. Their music is a unique combination of Norwegian folk and American pop. Their sound also pays homage to their musical idols, including Fleetwood Mac and Jackson Browne.
