“I’m putting everything into this record, but I want to build my career on the live show. I want to be a true working musician. It’s more of the old school way of doing things. But I think that even in this ever-changing music business there will always be a thirst for live performance and that’s what I want to do. That’s always been the goal. Connect with people, one room at a time.” – Billy Raffoul
Billy Raffoul has over a million listeners on spotify, a single featured on the hit videogame “From Days Gone,” and his own headlining tour in the U.S. in 2020 (now moved to 2021). Billy is on the top of his career, one that began when he was very young, modeling after his father, Jodi Raffoul.
Jodi is a successful solo artist who has opened for Bon Jovi, and it was during one of his shows, in front of thousands of people, that Billy realized that he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue music.
Raffoul began as a vocalist for demo recordings, and went into the studio one day to cut a demo for Kid Rock. This lead to Billy’s original music being sent to Kid Rock’s manager, who would eventually become Billy’s manager.
With his raspy and soulful vocals, Raffoul’s music reminds you of a smoky bar and whiskey neat. His gravelly sound and deep lyrics are based on his own life.
“That’s one thing for me,” he says. “A song needs to be about something I’ve experienced or something someone close to me is going through.I find myself going back to moments of time from the past, picking apart these little experiences and building them into bigger things. I want people to know that the songs are genuine, that they’ve been lived in.”
Billy Raffoul brought his rough hewn, rock n roll sound to Scenes Live Sessions! His powerful acoustic set was moving and intimate, and you can check it out below.
