The South is a wellspring of great American music. It has given us so many genres and so many artists that we can’t imagine pop music without it. Southern Rock had its heyday in the 1970s. Think of the Marshall Tucker Band, the Outlaws, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers Band.
Other great bands and artists who hailed from the South weren’t necessarily part of the Southern Rock genre. Think of Florida’s own Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Now Thomas Wynn & The Believers hope to follow in their footsteps.
This is a group with deep Southern roots and a fabled pedigree. The group is led by brother and sister Thomas and Olivia Wynn. Their father, Tom Wynn, was the original drummer of the band Cowboy, one of the legendary groups to make Capricorn Studios in Macon, Georgia, its home base, as did the Allman Brothers Band.
Thomas Wynn & The Believers have spent years as the truest modern incarnation of a great rock band from the South. They have no rivals in Florida. The group’s sound extends beyond rock and includes many other Southern musical influences. So of course the group’s live show is filled with incandescent guitar fire. The group is currently playing all over the country to an ever-growing fan base.
