SCENES Live Sessions continues this Friday, February 17th at 12 PM EST, with its second featured artist, Gene Casey–founder and lead singer of The Lone Sharks. A staple of Long Island’s East End music scene, The Lone Sharks’ rock & roll salute to Americana roots have graced the halls of the Hamptons for more than 20 years.
Accolades include being named the “Best of the Best” by Dan’s Papers and Hamptons Magazine, “People of the Year” in 2016 by the Northforker.com, and being the recipient of the Long Island Sound Award by the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2015.
“…whether taking on rockabilly, country, western swing or the blues, they performed like they were sharing a bill with Buddy Holly,” says Howard Thompson in a review for WPKN-FM, Bridgeport, CT and North Fork Sound Radio.
And The Lone Sharks have shared a bill with some notable musicians, including Tiny Tim, Elvis Costello, and The Who’s John Entwistle, to name a few.
Some of Casey’s original songs have been used on television and film soundtracks such as “Sons of Anarchy”, “Justified”, “The Killing Season” starring Robert DeNiro, and Rob Reiner’s “Being Charlie”. Click on the video to sample their music.
Gene Casey and The Lone Sharks released their latest album, “Untrained”, in 2012. The album’s twelve, all-original songs nod to the roots of American pop and rock. “’Untrained’ squares favorably against the latest Johnny Cash, Johnny Burnette or Junior Brown,” says Josh Alan Friedman in a review. Their next concert will be held at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, March 25th, at 8 PM. Click here for more info and to purchase tickets.
