A daughter of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Alexa Rose, will appear on SCENES Live Sessions, via Facebook, at noon on Friday, March 3rd.
With a tremulous country voice that harkens back to Loretta Lynn and Emmylou Harris, Alexa Rose is one of the freshest musical talents to appear in years. Her soprano carries us along with its lilting phrasing, before jumping octaves from one beat to the next.
Her brand of up tempo country and folk disguises its characteristic theme of love’s loss. Her songs often find her grappling as well with accepting the person she turns out to be. There’s darkness where the stream undercuts its banks and goes deep.
Her second album, “Low and Lonesome,” came out at the turn of the year, and it’s packed with swinging material like the eponymous track that’s gathering her an avid following.
She’s presently barnstorming “down East” through Virginia and the Carolinas, with occasional forays out to San Francisco.
SCENES thanks Alexa Rose for taking time out to give us a Live Session this coming Friday, March 3rd.
