This Sound Is Your Sound, This Sound Is Our Sound: Whetherman

Whetherman's striking, original sound draws on homegrown roots music styles, including country, folk, rock, bluegrass and blues. Watch him here.

On Friday, July 7, SCENES Live Sessions hosted Whetherman (aka Nicholas Williams) in a live performance streamed on its Facebook page. Whetherman brought his distinctive, eclectic sound to a broader public. Robin Russell wrote of his music that it

embodies the emerging style called Americana. Americana incorporates elements of various homegrown roots music styles, including country, folk, rock, bluegrass and blues. “Grassroots” is the word I’d use to describe Williams’ sound. I’d also call it beautiful, hard-working, soulful, and happy. It can also be very revealing about the trials of the common man.

In case you missed that exciting live event, here it is preserved for the ages — like a framed sepia photo that opens a window onto our past, with just a gleam of the future.
